I was introduced to a conceptual design company known as Droog whose mantra reads as:
We focus on matters that affect society
and its people. The process is key.
Our work is anti-disciplinary. And the outcome
can be anything that contributes to society.
Anyway the main point of this blog post is to highlight one of their pieces of work, ‘Family Vase black‘. It is a traditional Chinese vase that wasn’t made in China, rather the Droog studio has done great to copy the copycat and converts the essence of Chinese culture in a literal way. For Family vase Black the colours of an original Famille noire/Modi susancai vase have been digitally calculated and distilled into a colour gradient. A modern 3D printed vase to fit the contemporary emperor.
